Winter time is coming and soon the kiddos will no longer be able to play outdoors as much. All of their energy now must be exerted indoors. This can be hard for parents because they either have kids running around the house, bouncing off the walls, or repeatedly exclaiming to them “I’m bored.” This year skip all of the craziness, and get the kids involved in something great! Something that will not only help them get their wiggles out, but will strengthen and teach them. Try getting them enrolled in gymnastic classes.Gymnastic classes are a great investment in general, but especially during the winter months. Classes give kids a great place to run around with other kids, which they often are deprived of during this cold time of year. Gymnastic classes also teach them great motor skills, cool tricks, and give them a structured environment to try new things. These classes also help kids learn to listen and how to take instruction.There are many different types of classes that are offered at gymnastic centers around the country. The following are some classes that are very commonly found and that are affordable.

1. Mommy and Me.

Mommy and me classes are meant for toddler aged kids and an adult. This is not a class you drop your kid off at, but rather you attend as well and help your child. These classes help teach children basic skills such as jumping, somersaults, handstands, and kicks. Children will usually be introduced to bar, beam, and floor in this type of class. Kids will also learn how to stretch, balance, and will strengthen their muscles. A lot of coaches will also incorporate activities to help promote listening and taking turns.  Note: Mommy and me classes are usually done in three or four month sessions. With these classes you sign your child up for an appointed day and time and either pay all at once, or on a monthly basis.

2. Tumbling Preschool.

Preschool gymnastic classes are usually meant for three year olds and up. These classes will expound upon what was taught in the mommy and me class. These classes are usually parent free, so you can watch from the sidelines. Just like in mommy and me classes though, in preschool gymnastics kids will work on the bars, beam, and floor. Not only do preschool classes teach gymnastic skills, but they also teach early development skills such as colors, letters, and numbers.   Note: Preschool classes are usually done in three or four month sessions. With these classes you sign your child up for an appointed day and time and either pay all at once, or on a monthly basis.

3. Open gym.

A lot of gyms have an hour or two every day where they allow parents to bring their kids in and play on the equipment. During these times there is no official coaching. Kids usually spend their time exploring.      Note: Free time usually is paid on a per visit basis. Sometimes gyms will offer punch cards at a discounted rate.

4. Levels.

Once your children are a little older they will start being placed in certain levels. The higher the level, the more advanced of skills they will be taught. Students will usually be introduced to all aspects of gymnastics once they get in to the levels such as bar, beam, pommel horse, rings, floor, and so forth.      Note: Leveled classes are usually done in three or four month sessions.
